Q. What is the “Designated Ingredients Label”?
The “Designated Ingredients List” is a label required by the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law to be displayed on products that include ingredients that may cause skin problems including an allergic reaction following use in some rare cases. The label is intended to allow users to avoid skin problems before they occur. Currently, the label covers the following 103 designated ingredients (including fragrances in addition to the previous 102 ingredients).

Q. What happens to the “Designated Ingredients Label” now that the “All Ingredients Label” is required?
The “Designated Ingredients Label” for cosmetics should now be considered as representing a portion of the “All Ingredients Label.” Moreover, because the “All Ingredients Label” is not required for quasi-drugs, those products can continue to use the “Designated Ingredients Label” as before.
